Road Pic’s

The past week has been good, we’re getting close to the end of the tour, some tours we will have something that the crew does together, like one tour we did wiffle ball, another we did something else, I believe it was bow and arrows, this one has been watching a tv series, and now for some us it has been playing catch with a baseball. My glove had disappeared on a tour some time ago, and I’ve been playing catch with my dad’s old glove that acquired some time ago. So buying a new glove was something I’ve been wanting to do, but just haven’t. It’s hard to find people that like to stand around and play catch, but I found some, Daniel, Sam and I all bought a glove on our day off now a couple days ago. And pretty much have been playing catch for hours everyday since, my arm is about to fall off, but it has to be the best purchase as far as road game/toys I’ve bought on the road in a long time, so much fun.

My new glove it’s pretty awesome.

Seattle.

Portland, you have to look close this picture, these donuts are amazing, Sam had a runner get us some just so guys like me thy has never had this donut place that always has a line around the block experience them, and if your wondering that is real bacon, and fruitloops.

There’s something wrong with this picture.

I’m thinking about a career change.

The Past Week

Batting practice.

We took the hint.

The one on the right is what is suppose to be on the wall, the one the left is letting us know it’s actually on. We’re a visual kinda tour, for making sure things work.

1″ of snow in an hour.

We did a show at a brand new building, new like we were the second show new, and the hands were also new, they were having a meeting as to which direction stage left/right is, I’m not sure who was the one that wrote the the directions on the floor, but it’s pretty funny.

Pretty much explains it’s self.

We went from snow to this in 2 days. Also, the venue was right behind me, when I got off the bus I was kinda expecting to be in some sort of town or city, really strange and awesome.

Show 8…. maybe?

So, I’m not sure why I do it, but for some reason I always forget to grab the white balance towel we use to balance the camera’s, (that sentence is a little weird) most days I don’t notice it till the lights up opener is out there and I sit down in my world to make sure things are still working right.

It’s kinda funny, it would be less funny if it was in the back some where not noticeable, but instead it’s down front on this row of guitar speakers, as you can see in the pic.

RWRS #6

I twittered this pic as an oops, which it was, one of the stage hands plugged one of the confetti cannons into audio power instead of lighting’s, the hand wasn’t suppose to plug anything into anything, but it happened, and made for something to laugh about, it happens.

We had a couple bands that weren’t able to show up at this show, so we had fill in band, I have a place for my drum cam when the other bands are out, they have this set cart that I attach the camera to, well this time I didn’t have much options, so Sam hooked me up with a symbol stand that I put on top of the new bands bass cab, I thought it was funny, it was just this awkward camera that was really obvious from out in the audience.  But the shot looked good.

Good ole’ Shane W. showed up for the show,  it’s been a couple years since I’ve seen this guy, it was really good seeing him.  I miss touring with this guy, he always was good for creating a road story.  (haha) I have a lot of them, just good times.

Bus games, this one is pointless, but non the less it kept us entertained until the bus food showed up.

RWRS #5

Today was show #5, an interesting thing happen, we were loading in, and I was about to start getting my area in the racks all set up, when I see still on the tray inside the rack the Dr. Pepper I had gotten during the show. In the hustle and bustle of the previous shows load out, somebody, didn’t clear off the tray when sliding it into the rack, they just pushed it in and locked it.

That can of dr. Pepper in the rack, went onto a loading dock, on a ramp up into a truck, rode 10 hours on a semi, that drove through the frozen tundra of Iowa/Wisconsin, then off a ramp into a venue and never moved.

The way things have been going that can of Dr. P should have tipped over and exploded in the rack. But thankfully it didn’t, it would have made all the candy in the junk drawer sticky.

This is where we had our 2nd show. And I lost a tooth.

New Things

I’ve posted several times on here about how much I love baseball. I’ve always wanted a career in baseball, I mean who wouldn’t? The thing of it is, I’m getting older, well not that old, but old enough that dreams of having a career in baseball maybe fading into time like a Polaroid that starts to loose contrast. (Holy cow that was a stupid analogy) I use to dream about pitching in the majors, then it went to I would settle for a summer or 2 in the minors, to now i would love to be the guy who maintenances the field, but now a days you need a degree in agriculture to do that.

I always thought by now I would be a baseball wash up, assistant coaching a high school team or at least a church softball team, but no, I’m not. I have a good job, I like what I do, and I love the people I work with (well… at least some of them), so I’m not complaining, only wondering as the world gets closer to self destructing, and I get a year older and a little fatter, I have to wonder what it would be like and if it’s to late? Some of you are thinking what I’m thinking, “what about that school teacher they made a movie about, who played for the Rays, he was like in his 30′s when he tried out and made it ti the show, and some of you are thinking “yea Culmer is a little fatter this year.”

Celebrate With Family 2010 from Church on the Move on Vimeo.

A lot of you may know that I’ve done a lot of work with Church on the Move in Tulsa, the last couple years, I’m always proud of the work I do with them, it’s always an adventure. Watch the video, and you’ll see why, the video is their Christmas program, but still pretty awesome. You can see a lot of the behind the scenes, as well as the thinking behind a lot of what they do here.
