Last night we did a show at a church, usually when we do church shows, space is pretty cramped, inside and out, the truck and all the bus’ with their trailers were kinda crammed along one little road, we were loading the truck after the show, it had rained a little off and on during the beginning of load out, but had stopped long enough for video and lighting to start loading the truck.
Now by this time I was to say the least a little frustrated with the hands, I’m not gonna get into that, just look at the tittle of this post that should be enough. I look over and to the right I see the new merch guy pushing a hamper up a trailer behind the bus ramp, about half way up and when the hamper was about to enter the trailer he slips and falls and the hamper rolling back down the ramp pretty much stops when it hits him in the face, I found that rather funny, so I laughed and started to make fun of him, while in mid motion to help him out, I get about the same spot and slip as well landing on my knee and then sliding down the ramp, karma came back to bite me in the butt… I then noticed the problem some idiot had diamond plated the entire back ramp which when wet, is like a slide, brilliant.
So myself and the merchant guy (both big guys)lay at the bottom of the trailer ramp door or ramp, kinda laughing / cursing the diamond plate, continued slipping and sliding trying to get a hamper in the trailer finally figuring out a way to get the hamper up in the trailer. I in turn received a strawberry on my knee and hurt pride. The moral of the story, don’t help merch people, just point and laugh.
