A couple days ago I had a post all done about picture taking, and people that take pictures (still have a hobby) that upset me, some of you right now are thinking “no… Somebody upset Culmer?!” And to you I say, hey! Shut up. I had saved it as a draft in a crummy app that was suppose to “help” me post to my blog from my phone so I didn’t have to always pull my computer out, it was suppose to make being a blogger easy, it didn’t, but thankfully the app mysteriously deleted part of the post or rant.
So it was never posted, the post (rant) was about how I’ve hit a wall with my hobbies, one of my hobbies is photography, I use to be all about it, I love taking pictures, not so much portraits, but in the moment shots, like show shots or people doing things, I love catching moments in life and putting them together to tell stories. I’m not one to go around showing off my skills, or really has much invested into the hobby, and one of my frustrations is with people that have everything, and don’t put any effort into learning about the skill, or people that get things handed to them, and are ungrateful, I still have the same camera I’ve had for four years, it’s not that I’m all of sudden wanting somebody to pay attention to me, I don’t want to be the cool kid, sure it makes you feel better when people leave you a comment, or tell you something nice verbally, for those of who remember what having a real conversation is, or in my case after being on the road for a bit what “affirmation” is, that’s something that doesn’t happen much. But as I was ranting about this to a guy that has given me a chance to take some pictures of him and his band in live studio moment, which was an awesome experience, he said that my problem was that I don’t let people know that this is what I love to do, I love capturing a moment in life that is real, there’s no green screen, no setup with fancy crap everywhere, not a whole lot of photoshop, (can’t afford it) just life, like him in the studio, he wanted shots of their experience in the studio, I’m not saying I did a good job, but I was able to catch the moments they wanted, and I loved it.
So what he suggested was, to add a page on my blog, a blog that he has never seen or even heard of until the other day, (I’ve known him for years, again I don’t do very well with self promotion) of the pictures that I’ve taken, I know people that have these pages, I guess the reason I never had one before is I didn’t want to come across as someone who copies other peoples ideas, or again I’m not big about bragging myself up, and what’s the point nowadays anybody can take a picture and make it look awesome with something as simple as an app on their phone.
But I’m still giving it some thought.

You better do this or I am going to bug you until it happens….miss you man…we need to hang soon!
