Nick and I a little over a week ago were in some rehearsals that we had equipment at, so we were there for support making sure everything went ok, well the mother of the artist we were there for brought in some food, it’s a tradition of sorts. I was working on something and came back to the “FOH” and here’s Nick eating some spinach dip, he looks at me and says “you have to try this” and hands me this plate and walks away. I naturally eat all of it, and then head to find some more, only to find that there’s only a little left. I still manage to grab a little. After a while of talking about how good the dip was, (A–MA-ZING) Nick and I go over and introduce ourselves and kindly ask for the recipe for the lady that brought it.
She in classic humble form said it was just something she whipped up, and then proceeded to tell us, seeing that we were taking mental notes, and I was looking for a pen and paper, she said “well why don’t you boys give me your addresses and I’ll send you the recipe!” We look at each other and then say “OK!!” It was a little funny writing down our addresses for someone to send us a recipe, I mean with all the email and twitter or twatter and the “I’ll find ya on Facebook” people, she wanted our addresses. Just awesome!
We talked for a bit, her and her husband wanted to know if we were on the tour with their son, and what we did, etc. and that was it. Nick and I’ve talked about it a couple times since but didn’t really think we’d see anything in the mail, until I checked the mail tonight, and there it was, “Cooking with Smitty’s Mom”, and not just that but she signed the inside, and marked the page with the spinach dip. Just an awesome lady, I mean she has her own cook book!
