Tonight we had dinner with the Schwarz’s, we talked about this and that, but the one thing that we talked about was gifts, and how they didn’t get a whole lot of what was on their registry , and that caused us to remember that we didn’t get that many gifts from our wedding registry either, which brings me to this rant! Why do people buy random gifts for weddings, the Bride and Groom have a list of crap that they have spent time putting together at a place or places of their choosing, but yet people still want to go out and buy things that they think is a nice gift, and then what happens, the bride and groom receive a gift that they already have, or they get the same gift several times, like china, or plates, or picture frames! People come on! Or they just plane don’t like it, because their taste isn’t like yours, then they have take stuff back to the store because what are they going to do with what you gave them! They made a list of things that is part wish list part things they need as a now married couple!
But Noo….. you have to go out and buy whatever you think they should have, a little hint that might help you in the future, a wedding is the one thing that you don’t ever get to be selfish at! It’s about the couple getting married, I don’t like it either, but that’s the way it should be, so go to the stupid place that they have picked out, and look at the stupid list of crap they want, and buy something from there, if you can’t afford anything get them a gift card, but there’s going to be things you can afford, buy a couple little things, and put them in one box, they have those little things on there because they want those little things, not because there was a mistake!
This is part bitterness on my part, and part dumbfounded that people are stupid enough to think that their gift is a good gift, it’s NOT!! If it’s not on the registry then it’s probably not something that they will enjoy, unless it’s like a car, or a house, you know something that you know they will like but they feel bad putting on the registry, like a bulldozer , but you want to surprise them with it, that’s ok, but no more picture frames or candle holders, and just crap that you’ve had in your spare bedroom waiting for a way to re-gift it.
